Spaced repetition is a learning technique where you review information at specific intervals. It helps you remember things better by reviewing them when your memory starts to fade. This method uses the brain’s natural learning process and improves long-term retention. Instead of cramming all your reviews into one session, you space them out over time. The intervals between sessions gradually increase as you remember more. It optimizes study time and boosts memory.

Example

Let’s say you’re learning five new words: apple, cat, dog, elephant, and flower. Instead of studying all the words at once and reviewing them a few times, you study a smaller set each day and review them at specific intervals. On Day 1, you learn the five words and review them. On Day 2, you review them again. If you remember them well, you move on. But if you struggle with any, you focus on those more. On Day 3, you review all the words again, especially the ones you struggled with on Day 2. This helps reinforce your memory. On Day 4, you review them again, focusing on the challenging ones from Day 3.

You continue to review the words, gradually increasing the time between reviews. For example, you might review them on Day 7, then Day 14, then Day 30, and so on. This spaced repetition maximizes your learning by reviewing the words just when your memory starts to fade.
